Senior Executive - Projects, Products & Programs
Senior Executive - Projects, Products & Programs
Effective and Efficient Technology-oriented Executive experienced with successful planning and implementation of projects, product development and programs.
Career is characterized by providing research, sales, marketing, business, training & development services for employers, client companies and personal ventures. Experienced with project management tools and techniques especially in planning phase including Gantt charts, Critical Path Method, Program Review and Evaluation Technique (PERT), PRINCE2 and Continuous Process Improvement.
Since 2005, involved with numerous projects and feasibility studies for carbon sequestration and emission reductions involving manure digesters, Jenbacher and Waukesha gas engines, micro turbines, solar energy and green building.
After successful careers in Healthcare and Information Technologies, activities are now focused on lifelong interests in our environment, green building, hydroponics, solar and other renewable energy.
The experiences described herein have helped jt become an effective and efficient technology-oriented Executive experienced with just about all facets of project, product and program management. John has especially learned careful consideration must be given to the overall project objectives, timeline, and cost, as well as the roles and responsibilities of all participants and stakeholders.
John has also learned the primary challenge of project management is to achieve the project goals and objectives while being aware of constraints such as scope, time, quality and budget. Secondary and even more ambitious challenge is to optimize the allocation of necessary inputs and integrate them to meet goals and objective.
Early life experiences helped jt shape interests, vision and goals. Growing up where Lake Erie was thought to be dying, and the Cuyahoga River caught fire in 1969, jt realized the benefits of walking softly on this Earth and doing the best he can to make and leave the world a little better. The 1969 Cuyahoga River fire helped spur an avalanche of water pollution control activities, resulting in the Clean Water Act, Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, and the creation of the federal Environmental Protection Agencyand the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA).
Early on, jt adopted and added to definition of success as attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson of whom jt is a fan and actually published in Brown Book Magazine by Bessie Anderson Stanley in 1904… To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the respect of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one’s self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because I have lived—this is to succeed!
Lifelong Interests and Accomplishments
Through Let's Be Growing!, jt is helping expand local food production. With TEaM (Technology, Engineering and Marketing) Consulting, jt works with clients and products for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
Hydroponics & Aquaculture aka Aquaponics. While working on MS in Chemistry, U. Hawai’i Manoa, and as a consultant to the U.S. Naval Ocean Systems Center, Hawai’i Laboratory, and Hawai’i Natural Energy Institute through the Research Corporation of the U. of Hawai’i, jt expanded his interests in and activities with aquaculture and hydroponics which he continues to foster these days along with his interest and activities with Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Natural & Green Building.
Environmental Science. John had opportunities in Hawai’i as an environmental scientist with 1st Environmental Impact Survey of Pearl Harbor and Kaneohe Bay, aquaculture, hydroponics, algalculture for Hawai’i Natural Energy Institute as part of US DOE Aquatic Species program, Hawai'i humpback whale population study, U of Hawai'i dolphin communications, and Ulupau flow through seawater laboratory for Naval Ocean Systems Center Hawai’i Laboratory.
Green, Natural Building, Energy Efficiency and Sensible, Renewable Energy generation. John was one of the early Accredited Professionals through the US Green Building Council for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) ® green building rating system. He is also one of the early Nevada Weatherization Assessors and Building Analysts through the Building Performance Institute. John is currently involved with several “Waste-to-Energy” and “Waste-to-Fuels” projects, reducing carbon emissions and monetizing environmental attributes, e.g., carbon credits.
Healthcare Industry. John helped expand use of lasers in medicine and surgery, notably naming a cancer therapy as Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) and helping write and edit The Alpha Book on Cancer and Living. He also owned and operated a healthcare equipment business which he eventually sold to his associates. John has also served as a hospice volunteer with several organizations including the Center for Attitudinal Healing and Circle of Life Hospice.
Aviation. His interest in flying things and service to country had John enroll in ROTC while at Miami University (Ohio) and serve as an officer in the US Air Force with honorable discharge.
In September, 2015, jt completed 23 straight years as a volunteer with Reno National Championship Air Races where he’s worked with non-profits, provided ramp security, sold programs and directed traffic. This stint began in 1993 as volunteer director of the short-lived National Air Race Museum (NARM), Sparks, NV.
jt’s fascination with aviation was sparked by visit as a 4-year old to air show in Cleveland as he still remembers and experiences the exhilaration of seeing a flight of 4 Corsairs sweep over Edgewater Beach, a glider performing aerobatics and a Spad and Fokker DR1 Triplane in a mock dogfight.
Over the years, jt has had many enjoyable and life shaping encounters with WWII pilots and air crews. jt also has an unexplainable heartfelt connection with The Fifty (who were murdered) of Stalag Luft III who were part of The Great Escape and the movie of the same name.
In addition to volunteering with the Air Races and formerly with NARM, jt has been involved with Experimental Aircraft Association as an Ambassador for the annual fly-in in Oshkosh, WI, and the Confederate Air Force and Aircraft Owners Pilot Association briefly owning a Cessna 172. jt also earned his Glider Pilot rating, and was a co-owner of Soar Truckee, which has been changed to a 501c3, the Truckee Tahoe Soaring Organization. l@@k for his www.highflight.org site which is under construction.
Soccer. jt started playing team soccer at the age of 9 y.o. with Donau Swaben Soccer Club in Cleveland, Ohio. By age 16, he had played in a number of international matches in Canada and Europe. Many of his fondest memories are from his time with some of the outstanding international stars including Péle of Brazil and Pushkash of Hungary's MHBK Soccer Club. John coached youth and adult soccer teams, refereed and coached Damien H.S. Varsity Soccer Team in Honolulu.
Spirituality. Exploring the Meaning of Life and completing his Life’s Purpose are some of jt’s goals. Early on, jt experienced his personal relationship with Spirit which many people call God. His interest was first fostered through his attendance in St. Patrick’s Bridge Ave and St. Patrick’s West Park grade schools, and then St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, OH. Over the years, jt continues to explore Truth through studies of Science of Mind originally published by Ernest Holmes, the Course in Miracles and more.
